KS4

Combined Science GCSE
Exam Board: Edexcel 
Assessment: 6 written examinations assessed at foundation/higher tier. The qualification is worth two GCSEs. Calculators may be used for all papers.

  • Papers 1 & 2: Biology; 1 hours 10 minutes each; 60 marks each (worth 16.7% each)
  • Papers 3 & 4: Chemistry; 1 hours 10 minutes each; 60 marks each (worth 16.7% each)
  • Papers 5 & 6: Physics; 1 hours 10 minutes each; 60 marks each (worth 16.7% each)

Assessment: Unit 1 (25%) – External examination – 3 papers covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics taken in May of Yr12. Unit 8 (17%) – Coursework – completed between January and July of Yr13. Unit 3 (33%) – External examination – 1 paper based on a practical examination taken in January of Yr13. Unit 2 (25%) – Coursework – completed between January and May of Yr13.
