What is School Direct?
The School Direct model is a school-led teacher training route, where participating schools recruit and select their own trainees. Although there is an expectation that trainees will go on to work within the school or cluster of schools in which they were trained, there is no absolute guarantee of employment.
Sir Christopher Hatton Academy is delighted to be the lead school for the Hatton Learning Partnership working with the University of Leicester as our HEI partner. Successful completion of the course leads to either the Post Graduate Certificate in Education and 60 credits at Masters level awarded by the University of Leicester and Qualified Teacher Status awarded by NCTL or the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education awarded by the University of Leicester and Qualified Teacher Status awarded by NCTL.
For 2016/2017, we will be offering training route places in Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, History and Physics with the University of Leicester.More details about these placements will be available once the UCAS application window has opened later this year.
We are also able to offer School Direct places for trainees wishing to pursue a career in primary education.
For 2016/2017, we will be offering training route places in Mathematics, Computer Science and Modern Foreign Languages (German/Spanish) in partnership with the University of Befordshire.
