Our KS3 course follows KS3 Science National Curriculum. There are both practical assessments and termly tests to keep track of progress over the two year course.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum Details:
At KS3 pupils study various courses and various years depending upon their route through Sir Christopher Hatton Academy. These include the Edexcel BTEC in Science, Edexcel Science, Edexcel Additional Science, Edexcel Biology, Edexcel Chemistry and Edexcel Physics.
Key Stage 5 Curriculum Details:
A-Level Chemistry follows the OCR B (Salter’s Chemistry) specification. Subject Leader: Mrs J Belleini. At AS level, students follow five units of work which are examined in two written papers in May/June. Throughout the year, there will be various assessed practical skills which comprise the coursework component. For A2, there are a further two written papers examining eight units of work and students will complete an extended individual investigation for their coursework
A-Level Biology follows the AQA syllabus. The subject leader is Mrs. N. Sacre. The course consists of two examined modules and a coursework module at AS and a further two examined modules and a coursework component at A2.
A-Level Physics follows the OCR B Advancing Physics syllabus. The subject leader is Mrs. V. Hyman. The course consists of two examined modules and a coursework module at AS and a further two examined modules and a coursework component at A2
EDEXCEL BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma in Health & Social Care. Over the 2 years the students will cover 3 mandatory units and 3 optional units. One unit does involve the aspect of work experience.
EDEXCEL BTEC L3 Subsidiary Diploma in Applied Science . In Year 12 students cover the 3 mandatory units: 1. Fundamentals of Science, 2. Working in the Science Industry, 3. Scientific Practical Techniques. (broadly equivalent to an AS level). In Year 13 there are optional units. They will pick 3 which will take them up to the full A level equivalent. Mr. Smith Martin leads both of our BTEC courses.
