Key Stage 3:
Key Stage 3 continues the development of key mathematical skills and builds on Key Stage 1 & 2. Pupils cover a broad Mathematical Curriculum which covers Number, Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.
Expected Range of Levels
Year 7: 2,6
Year 8: 3,7
Year 9: 3,8+
Key Stage 4
Key Stage 4 Mathematics now begins in Year 9. All pupils study the Edexcel Modular Mathematics specification with modules being sat regularly over the Key Stage. The programme of study aims to develop the skills required for success both at GCSE an more broadly in the world at large. Pupils study Number, Algebra, Shape & Data Handling
Qualifications sat at Key Stage 4
Edexcel Modular GCSE Mathematics (All pupils). Sat throughout Key Stage 4 Edexcel GCSE Statistics (Some pupils). Sat in Year 11 Free Standing Maths Qualifications (Some pupils). This is between GCSE and 'A' Level in it's challenge and is sat in one of Years 9, 10 & 11. Some pupils will have the opportunity to sit the Statistics module of AS Level Mathematics. IFS Finance may be available in Year 11.
Key Stage 5
AS Mathematics includes both pure (core) Maths & either Mechanics or Statistics. At A2 level, Mathematics develops the pure Maths covered at AS and the applied module not studied in Year 12 (either Mechanics or Statistics) Further Mathematics is also offered and together with Mathematics this provides an excellent springboard towards an interesting, challenging and lucrative future.
Qualifications sat at Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form)
In Year 12, Edexcel AS Mathematics will be sat. In Year 13, Pupils move to Edexcel A2 Mathematics. Further Mathematics follows the MEI scheme with the AS being sat in Year 12 and the A2 during Year 13
Revision Sessions
KS5 Revision takes place on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. GCSE revision takes place on Thursday evenings.
