Raleigh
Hello and welcome to the Raleigh House Page.
All four houses are named after famous people linked to Sir Christopher Hatton, the Raleigh House name derives from Sir Walter Raleigh, who well known for his writing and poetry during Queen Elizabeth the 1st reign. Raleigh grew in favour with the Queen, so much so that in 1585 he was knighted after his work in Ireland, he was rewarded many times by the Queen, the highest honour he received was being appointed as the Lord Warden of the Stannaries.
The Head of House is Miss. Michelle Jackson, an exciting teacher who is also currently the Head of the Drama department. Our House Captain is Matt Taylor from Year 13; he is also a PE assistant who is a keen sports enthusiast. The House also has two Vice-Captains from year 11; the first being Naomi Torrie an incredible young actress who will be appearing at the 2009 Oundle Festival of Music and Drama. Liam O’reilly is the other Vice Captain, a keen Cricketer who will be studying his A Levels at Sir Christopher Hatton in September 2009. A fantastic team with high aspirations and ambitions to reflect Sir Walter Raleigh’s name.
The Raleigh house encourages all of its members to be the best that they can be. Nothing more. Nothing less. We emphasise teamwork as a key aspect to being successful and because of this we organise various events which all participants are welcomed into a friendly environment. In these events winning is a bonus. The real reward is the teamwork and support that our fellow Raleigh members show. For this we could not ask for a better, more homely house.
We aim for excellence in all that we do and therefore hope to obtain the house cup at the end of each term. As a house we try to abide by the house Motto. This is a saying that as a house defines what we are about. Our Raleigh Motto has been adopted from former American sports star Michael Jordan:
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”
