Re: Consultation on increasing the Published Admission Number (PAN) and the expansion of Sir Christopher Hatton Academy.
This letter is to seek your views on the proposed enlargement of Sir Christopher Hatton Academy and the proposal to increase our admission number temporarily for September 2018 and permanently from September 2019.
The proposal is to increase our PAN from 210 to 240. This will increase the numbers of students in years 7 to 11 from 1050 to 1200 and an increase in the sixth form to 250. The expansion will be dependent upon the approval of a building project to create further classrooms by the Department for Education. Currently Sir Christopher Hatton Academy has the smallest PAN of the three town academies, the other local PANs are: Weavers 246; Wrenn 250; Wollaston 240.
There are two reasons for this proposal:
- There is an increase in the pupil population in Wellingborough which will create a pressure upon secondary school places beginning next academic year. You may be aware that several local primary schools have increased their PAN to meet this demand.
- Sir Christopher Hatton Academy has been consistently over-subscribed for the last three academic years and this will allow more parents to obtain their first choice school place.
This letter is to gain your views and comments. We will also be informing the local community through our website and consulting all county schools and academies.
The consultation period begins on Monday 6th March and ends on Friday 21st April 2017. Please send any comments you have by the end of this consultation period. The responses and way forward will then be considered by Hatton Academies Trust Board of Directors.
Please either write in to the Academy for the attention of: The Assistant to the Board of Director at Sir Christopher Hatton Academy, The Pyghtle, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire NN8 4RP, or send an email with the subject: Consultation On Expansion Of SCHA to firstname.lastname@example.org.
