Careers Guidance for Students and Parents

At Sir Christopher Hatton Academy we are committed to ensuring that every student receives high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to support them in making informed decisions about their future.

Careers guidance is delivered through our Lifeskills curriculum, the Hatton Baccalaureate (HBACC), employer encounters, workplace experiences and one-to-one guidance sessions. Students are supported throughout their time at the academy to explore different career pathways and develop the skills needed for the future.

Independent Careers Advice

Students have access to independent and impartial careers guidance through our partnership with Prospects Careers Service.

Students receive a one-to-one careers guidance interview in:

  • Year 10
  • Year 12

Additional careers guidance appointments are available in Year 11 and Year 13 for students who require further support with their next steps, applications or career planning.

These meetings help students to:

  • Explore career options
  • Understand post-16 and post-18 pathways
  • Receive support with college, university and apprenticeship applications
  • Prepare for interviews and recruitment processes

Parents and students can also access independent careers advice online through the National Careers Service, which provides information about careers, courses and job opportunities.
